Every day is an opportunity for discovery and growth at Oakbrook Kindergarten

Oakbrook Kindergarten has a proud history of delivering quality 3 and 4 year old kindergarten Programs to local families since 1983. Oakbrook Kindergarten strives to build quality relationships with the broader community and families that attend as we recognise the importance of the child’s family as their first teachers. We are committed to implementing the Victorian Government’s child safe standards.

Children
Children are competent and capable beings with strong beliefs, culture, ideas and feelings.
We respect children- their voice, choices and rights.
Children deserve healthy lifestyles and safe environments.
Children learn best through play, in a positive, supportive and safe environment.
Children learn and develop skills through active participation.

Families
We acknowledge families as the child’s first and most influential teacher.
We understand the importance home culture is to the healthy and whole development of the child.
We respect families- their knowledge, experience and commitment to their children and their different ways of thinking and being.
Strong partnerships with families are vital.

Curriculum
Our curriculum is play-based.
The content of the program reflects the children’s interests, staff interests, intentional learning, spontaneous learning, the physical environment, family values and community values.

Located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the suburb of Epping our extensive outdoor environment and indoor play area offer inviting and engaging play spaces for children to explore and be themselves.

We provide three and four-year-old kindergarten programs in a safe and secure environment where children can express themselves, celebrate diversity and enjoy kindergarten. Our program offers children the opportunity to grow and develop through play – the way children learn best.

Our environment is welcoming, caring and supportive of individual's needs as children learn best when feeling safe and confident within themselves. The children are free to explore and experiment while having caring educators available to support and scaffold their learning.

From 2023, the Victorian Government is making kindergarten programs free for three and four-year-old children – saving you and your family up to $2,500 per year for their program. Free Kinder is a critical component of the Victorian Government’s Best Start, Best Life reform and we are thrilled to be a part of this initiative.

Our curriculum is play based and draws reference from socio-cultural theories of learning and teaching.

Play requires skilled educators to be intentional in all aspects of their practices and we have built a curriculum around key focus points that reflect the National Early Years Learning Frameworks. Our curriculum is influenced by individual children’s learning styles, interests, families and intentionally planned experiences.

We respect each child is an individual and develops at his/her own rate. We encourage families to have begun toilet training and will work to support their child’s development to promote a positive outcome.

Children do have toileting accidents on occasion, which are managed sensitively and discretely by educators. We ask each family to keep a complete change of clothes in their child’s bag in case children require changing. They’re also handy for when your child becomes thoroughly immersed in water play outside.

As a sun-safe organisation we provide child-friendly sunscreen, however if your child has sensitive skin please feel free to provide your preferred brand.
