As the nominated Supervisor, I am the person responsible for the day-to-day management of the kindergarten, which is governed by the National Law and National Regulations in Australia. Our team of three dedicated educators, with the support of our Area Manager, work towards objectives identified in our Quality Improvement Plan, in order to achieve continuous improvement at Lalor East Preschool.
Our Philosophy
At Lalor East Preschool we strive to create a learning community where children feel safe, protected and able to develop confidence and positive self-esteem. Our kindergarten is built upon the principles of positive communication, tolerance and understanding, which we endeavour to pass on to every child in our service.
A child’s family members are their first teachers, and, as such, we highly value the contributions and participation of family members in our service. We offer many opportunities for family involvement in curriculum and kindergarten activities and family members are welcome to visit at any time.
Our Spaces / Environment
Lalor East preschool is a one room kindergarten. We provide a play based curriculum that caters for each child’s individual interests and their development. The kindergarten has a homely feel. This ensures that children and their families feel relaxed as they enter our kinder.
Our passionate team consists of three wonderful early childhood educators. Each educator brings their own beliefs into kinder and this ensures that as a team we work well together. Our interests are diverse and range from gardening to cooking. We love to share our interests with the children and ensure that every experience is a learning experience.

Fees
The Victorian Government provides funding to support children to access a high quality kindergarten program in the two years before they start school. This helps to ensure all Victorian children get the best start in life.
From 2023, the Victorian Government is making kindergarten programs free for three and four-year-old children – saving you and your family up to $2,500 per year for their program. Free Kinder is a critical component of the Victorian Government’s Best Start, Best Life reform.
FAQs
What will my child learn at kindergarten?
Our curriculum is play based and draws reference form socio-cultural theories of learning and teaching.
Play requires skilled educators to be intentional in all aspects of their practices and we have built a curriculum around key focus points that reflect the National Early Years Learning Frameworks. Our curriculum is influenced by individual children’s learning styles, interests, families and intentionally planned experiences.
Should my child be toilet trained to attend?
We respect each child is an individual and develops at his/her own rate. We encourage families to have begun toilet training and will work to support their child’s development to promote a positive outcome.
Children do have toileting accidents on occasion, which are managed sensitively and discretely by educators. We ask each family to keep a complete change of clothes in their child’s bag in case children require changing. They’re also handy for when your child becomes thoroughly immersed in water play outside.
Do I need to pack sunscreen?
As a sun-safe organisation we provide child-friendly sunscreen, however if your child has sensitive skin please feel free to provide your preferred brand.
