Our spaces and environment
Playground upgrade
We are thrilled to announce the completion of a brand-new playground at Richmond Multicultural Children’s Centre, made possible through the generous funding of the Victorian Government Building Blocks Inclusion grant. This new addition to our Centre promises to enhance the outdoor learning and play experiences for the RMCC children.
This playground was designed with the safety and development of young children in mind, offering opportunities for physical activity, imaginative play, and social interaction. The funding allowed us to create a space that fosters creativity and healthy development, providing a safe and engaging environment for the children to explore.
A warm and connected community
At our Centre, families, children, and educators come together to create a supportive, inclusive community where everyone feels they belong.
What our families are saying about our Centre
"We feel very grateful and happy to be part of this amazing Childcare Centre! ...
... I love seeing how our daughter plays with her dolls at home - putting them to sleep, patting, giving them dummies, water, milk bottle or a comforter. Cooking for them and putting on some music for them. She replicates a lot of actions she sees during the day at the RMCC! And it fills my heart with love and gratitude knowing that she is not only receiving this great care herself, but also has these amazing women as her role models! You make us very happy! Thank you!"
"Your staff are an absolute credit to both Sparkways and the industry. They are...
... helping to raise young children who are caring - for each other and for community. The staff ensure that all cultures and skills are valued but especially First Nations. First Nations is entwined through all learning, all displays, all bookshelves and each other. I am especially thankful for the leadership and staff providing the space for the children to develop a sense of agency - with agency big things can grow. Thank you to all the staff for caring and proactively planning and being such wholesome role models."
"The Educators at Sparkways Richmond are amazing! Each and every one of them...
... bring something special to the Centre. My daughter and son are so happy there and feel safe and supported. I especially love how the Educators encourage creativity and independence within the children."
"My daughter has been going since she was 1. I wouldn’t trust any other team...
... with her. We have seen from the babies room to the kindergarten program. Having staff who know her, really know her, has been so be official. Absolutely would recommend."
"Our daughter has been at SRMCC for about 18 months and she absolutely loves...
... it. The staff are so caring and the education and learning experiences she receives are outstanding. Having come from a very large, for-profit centre it is so nice to be part of a small personalised, community-owned centre where the children at the absolute focus."

FAQs
How do you communicate with parents and guardians?
All families have access to Story Park. Storypark is communication tool that has been designed to help record and allow you to share in your child’s milestones and activities. You can also connect other members of your family to see your child’s photos and videos.
Are meals and snacks provided, or do children bring a lunchbox?
At SRMCC, the children are offered nutritious and healthy seasonal meals, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. All food is freshly prepared by the in-house chef, who is also a qualified nutritionist.
All children’s dietary requirements are accounted for, including allergies and intolerances.
How is food used to teach the children about healthy eating and nutrition?
We have discussions around nutrition with the children and have planted a garden as a way to show a cycle of ground to plate. Not only are children taught about where their food comes from and the benefits of healthy eating, but the children take part in weekly cooking lessons, and also learn about the value of growing your own produce in the centre’s vegetable garden.
What kind of activities do you offer?
We are committed to providing a stimulating and caring environment for all infants and children in our care. Through collaboration with our local community, we encourage exploration while embracing diversity and community inclusion in our play-based programs and activities:
- Children really enjoy creative arts using many open-ended materials such as playdough, feathers, paints and other soft materials, as well as participating in our music program
- Dressing up and imaginary play
- Partaking in STEM and STEAM projects
- Gymnastic and Yoga
- Watering plants and caring for the gardens
